S.K.D.A.V. Government Polytechnic is a state government run co-education diploma engineering college located in Basanti Colony of city Rourkela. In the beginning of its inception the Institute was named as S.K.D.A.V Government Polytechnic for Women's which was established in the year 1967 by Mrs. Sushilavati Khosla with the help of D.A.V Trust.

The Institute is affiliated to All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi and State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training recognized under state Government of Odisha.

S.K.D.A.V Government Polytechnic for Women was established in the year 1967 by Mrs. Sushilavati Khosla who was wife of ex- Governor of Odisha Dr. Ajudhia Nath Khosla. She donated an amount of Rs One Lakh for starting this college in collaboration with D.A.V Trust. In the year 1974, the Institute administration and funding was taken by Government of Odisha and by the year 1990 the institute had its new campus which was located at Bansanti Colony of city Rourkela.

In the beginning, the institution offered courses in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Library & Information Science. Subsequently, from year 2001 to 2010 the institute started new branches of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Civil Engineering to its curriculum.

From year 1967 to 2012 the Institute imparted diploma education exclusively to girl students around the state of Odisha. In the year 2013[1] the Government of Odisha decided to change the curriculum of the Institute to facilitate co-aid engineering diploma courses to the students so that girls and boys get equal chances for studying, which in turn resulted in change of name of the institute from S.K.D.A.V. Government Polytechnic for Women's to S.K.D.A.V. Government Polytechnic.

  • Diploma in Industrial Safety for B.Tech, Diploma and B.Sc degree holders.

Admission procedure[edit]

The students are admitted through DET Orissa[2][3] National level entrance test.
Eligibility

  • Students of HSE or equivalent in CBSE, ICSE, CHSE and BSE.
  • Students of ITI can apply for lateral entry program.
