Rati Raut was a chief of Rati Pargana in north Bihar.[1][2] Jetharia clan of Bhumihars are believed to be originated from Rati Raut, a Brahmin, from Ahiraulia (often confused with Ahir, Yadavs).[3][4]
The term Ahiraulia comes from Ahiraulia ( Snake) and Raulna( to wander) typically a wetland where snakes live.
Early life[edit | edit source]
Rati Raut was born in north Bihar, into a Brahmin family. The origin of Jethariya clan is from a village Jethar, in western Uttar Pradesh. In ancient time many Brahmin family from West India migrated to present day Jether, predominantly the Husseini Brahmins of Punjabs and Nooristani Brahmins into Jethar, before migrating to Bihar.
