Rana Abdul Rauf is a Pakistani politician who had been a Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, from 2008 to May 2018.

Early life[edit]

He was born on 11 March 1953.[1]

Political career[edit]

He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) from Constituency PP-279 (Bahawalnagar-III) in 2008 Pakistani general election.[2]

He was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as a candidate of PML-N from Constituency PP-279 (Bahawalnagar-III) in 2013 Pakistani general election.[3][4]

He was re-elected to Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as a candidate of PML-N from Constituency PP-239 (Bahawalnagar-III) in 2018 Pakistani general election.[5]

Revocation of his university degree[edit]

On 13 December 2019, the status of Rana Abdul Rauf's Bachelor of Arts degree was decided after 11 years, with Balochistan University Quetta cancelling the degree.[citation needed]

Rao Asif Ijaz, the son of former MPA Rao Ijaz Ali Khan, who came second in the 2008 election against the degree of MPA Rana Abdul Rauf, had applied to the university for the issue to be reviewed, almost 11 years after the university administration accepted the forgery.[citation needed]
