Premanand Ji Maharaj

Premanand Ji Maharaj, born as Anirudh Kumar Pandey, is an Indian spiritual teacher and Sannyasa in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. He is known for his spiritual teachings and commitment to celibacy.[1][2][3][4]

Early lifeEdit

Maharaj was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, into a Brahmin family. His parents, Shambhu Pandey and Rama Devi, instilled a deep sense of devotion in him from a young age.[1][5][6]

Spiritual journeyEdit

In the 5th grade, his spiritual journey began as he delved into the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. This marked the start of his growing interest in spirituality and the pursuit of spiritual knowledge.[7]

At the age of 13, he made a decision to embrace celibacy and renounced his family to become a Sanyasi. During this phase, he was named "Aryan Brahmachari."[8]

Journey to VrindavanEdit

One of the most significant episodes in Premanand Ji Maharaj's life was his journey to Vrindavan. An unknown saint once invited him to witness the Sri Chaitanya Leela and Raasleela stage in Vrindavan at night. Initially, he declined the invitation as he did not recognize the saint. However, after persistent insistence from the saint, Premanand Ji Maharaj agreed and attended the event. He became deeply engrossed in the spiritual atmosphere.[8]

A month later, when the event concluded, he felt a strong desire to witness the Raasleela again. He sought out the same saint who had initially invited him. Expressing his willingness to serve, Premanand Ji Maharaj asked to be taken to Vrindavan to witness the Raasleela regularly. The saint advised him to come to Vrindavan, where he could witness the Raasleela daily. Inspired by these words, Maharaj Ji embarked on his journey to Vrindavan, where he sought the divine presence of Radharani and Shri Krishna and began his path to spiritual attainment.[9]

LegacyEdit

Premanand Ji Maharaj left an indelible mark on the spiritual landscape of India through his teachings and unwavering commitment to the path of spirituality.[10] Both his kidneys are failing for about one and a half decade and he undergoes regular dialysis.[11][12][13]
