Prabhakar Chaudhary (born 1 January 1984) is an officer of the Indian Police Service 2010 batch, hails from Hanswar, Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India. Chaudhary faced 18 transfers within an 8-year span during his career.[1][2]

Early life and education[edit]

Prabhakar Chaudhary hails from near Hanswar, Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. He completed his higher education at Allahabad University, obtaining a B.Sc. and an LLB degree. In 2010, he successfully cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam on his first attempt, which marked the beginning of his career in the Indian Police Service. Chaudhary began his career as an under-training Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Noida. Over the years, he served in various positions and districts, gaining a reputation for his strict actions against crime and dedication to maintaining law and order.[3]

In Sitapur, lawyers forcibly entered a police station over a minor dispute, leading to an assault on policemen. He also faced an attack on his vehicle during farmers' protests in Meerut.[5][6]

Bareilly transfer and controversy[edit]

Chaudhary's transfer to Bareilly as SSP was followed by an incident involving a lathicharge on a group of kanwariyas. He ordered the lathicharge after a group attempted to take out a procession near a mosque, sparking protests from the Muslim community. Chaudhary's transfer to Lucknow as the commandant of the 32nd battalion provincial armed constabulary (PAC) followed this incident.[7]
