Parasuram Petla (also known as Bujji)[1] is an Indian film screenwriter and director, who works in Telugu cinema. Born in Cherlopalem, Visakhapatnam district, Andhra Pradesh, Parasuram done his schooling from Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalayas and completed his MBA degree in Andhra University before pursuing a career in films.[2] He began working in 2003 as an assistant film director to his cousin Puri Jagannadh and Bommarilu Bhaskar.

He made his directorial debut in 2008 with the Telugu film Yuvatha. He is well known for directing films Anjaneyulu (2009), Solo and Geetha Govindam (2018). His recent movie is Sarkaru Vaari Paata (2022) which received positive to mixed reviews from critics.

Career[edit]

After completing his MBA postgraduate degree in 2002, Parasuram started working as an assistant movie director for his cousin Puri Jagannadh. He worked as an assistant director for Puri Jagannadh on films Itlu Sravani Subramanyam, Andhrawala and 143. He also worked as an associate director for Bommarilu Bhaskar on his 2008 film Parugu.

His debut film starring Nikhil Siddharth was negatively received by the critics. The movie performance was average at the box office.[3] His next film Anjaneyulu, a comedy entertainer starring Ravi Teja was released in 2009 and received bad reviews from the critics and was a box office flop.[4]

In 2011, he made the film Solo starring Nara Rohit, which earned a good gross at the box office.[5] In 2012, he collaborated with Ravi Teja again for the film Sarocharu. The film received negative reviews from critics[6] and was a box office failure.[7]

In 2018, he made his next directional venture Geetha Govindam starring Vijay Devarakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. The film received mostly positive reviews from he critics and audiences and became one of the highly successful Telugu films of the year.[8]
