PTI foreign funding case
The PTI foreign funding case involves allegations that the party received financial contributions from foreign entities, including Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan of the UAE, overseas-based Pakistani expatriates, and corporate entities linked to them. Among these donors was prominent Pakistani industrialist Arif Naqvi, who, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, had also previously funded Nawaz Sharif and his political associates. In a detailed verdict issued on 5 April 2023, the Islamabad High Court ruled that there was insufficient documentary evidence to establish Imran Khan’s involvement in the case, effectively dismissing the allegations against him.
