National Council of Applied Economic Research

National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) is a New Delhi based non-profit think tank of economics.[1][2] Nandan Nilekani is president of the governing body and Poonam Gupta is current director general of NCAER.[1]

History[edit]

It was established in 1956 with financial support from the Ford Foundation, Finance Ministry and Tata Sons. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone of NCAER campus on 31 October 1959.[3] From 2001 to 2011, Suman Bery served as the director general.[4]
