National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language

The National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (Urdu: قومی کونسل برائے فروغ اردو زبانQaumī Kaunsil barā-yi Farōg̱ẖ-i Urdū Zabān or NCPUL) is an independent regulatory organization within the Government of India. It serves as the primary authority for Urdu language and education in the country. Established to promote, develop, and spread the Urdu language, the NCPUL operates under the Ministry of Education, specifically the Department of Secondary and Higher Education. The Council began its activities in Delhi on 01 April 1996, and functions as the main coordinating and monitoring body for advancing Urdu language and education.
