Nagesh Kariyappa (born 15 February 1994) is an Indian Political Activist and National General Secretary[1] of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), the Student’s organisation of the Indian National Congress[2][3]

Nagesh Kariyappa was born to Kariyappa S, an Politician, on 15 February 1994, in the city of Heritage,Mysore now known as Mysuru, Karnataka India. Kariyappa completed his primary and secondary education in Mysore. And per suing a Bachelor of Law.[4] After completing his Diploma Engineering in Electronics and Communications.He was an active student leader from his School and College Days and protested against anti-student policies.[5]

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Kariyappa was appointed National Secretary of the National Student's Union of India on 12 May 2018, from a field of 100 candidates, following the final approval of Rahul Gandhi. He subsequently also held NSUI state-level leadership roles in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Jharkhand, Delhi and Punjab. He campaigned against cheating in exams and started his career as a NSUI Mysore City Secretary in 2010.[6] 1st May 2020 , at the age of 26, Kariyappa was appointed as National General Secretary of the National Students' Union of India(NSUI) following the final approval of Sonia Gandhi proposed by K. C. Venugopal and Neeraj Kundan. He was the first Mysoreian to hold this post. And second Kannadiga to hold this position. Kariyappa started his political carrier by opposing the Mal practices done by the department of schooling education and Inspired by Rahul Gandhi transformation process he joined NSUI and has led many agitations on Right to Education by filing a case in High Court of Karnataka against BJP govt and got relief to lakhs of BPL families. He also strictly opposed the Donation system in schools and colleges. Fought against private tutorials. Nagesh led a huge rally of VTU students to Belgaum.[7] Now being In-charge of states he is still continuing his programs. Kariyappa hails from a backward class family was handpicked by Rahul Gandhi by seeing his talents and Organising skills. He is always seen with the Karnataka Political trouble shooter and the Karnataka PCC President DK Shivakumar. Shivakumar has helped him in all ways to come so long in his Journey. Nagesh Kariyappa is having a very great skills of organisation so always NSUI has used him in the difficult states as in charge like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Delhi. Kariyappa has always kept his loyalty towards the organization and the leadership[8] so he is always seen as the trustable person and hence is always given the strong works. He has filed[9] many cases upon Bharatiya Janata Party[10] politician[11] On Amit Shah[12][13][14][15][16] and Deep Sindu[17] on Patanjali owner Baba Ramdev[18] especially on PM Narendra Modi[19] and their Ministers.[20][21]
