Naanu Kusuma is a 2023 Kannada language tragedy drama written and directed by Krishnegowda.[1][2] It stars Krishne Gowda, Greeshma Sridhar, Cauvery Sridhar, and Sanatani Joshi in the lead roles.[3]

The film is based on a short tale written by Kannada novelist Dr Besagarahalli Ramanna, who based the story on a true story.[4] The film was released on 30 June 2023.[5]

Plot[edit]

The story of Nanu Kusuma is about Kusuma, the daughter of a loving and caring father who has high expectations for his daughter. But fate has other ideas for her, and her father dies in an accident, throwing her life into disarray. Kusuma, who intended to be a doctor, withdraws from medical school due to financial difficulties. She is given her father's government job as a form of compensation. However, Kusuma's life takes a dramatic change when she is sexually attacked.[4]

Awards and accolades[edit]

The film was screened at International Film Festival of India. The Film was awarded as best Kannada movie in 14th Bengaluru International Film Festival.[6][4]

Reception[edit]

The Kannada Newspaper Prajavani gives a mixed critical response.[7] The Times Group's newspaper Vijaya Karnataka gave it 3 stars out of 5.[8]
