Mridul Nair is an Indian film artist who primarily works in the Malayalam film industry. He is known for his work as a director, writer, and actor.[1][2]

Career[edit | edit source]

Mridul Nair began his career in Malayalam cinema as an actor and writer, appearing in films such as Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla (2013), Rockstar (2015) and Adventures of Omanakuttan (2017). He made his feature directorial debut with B Tech (2018), for which he also wrote the screenplay and appeared in a supporting role.[3][4]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nair directed the short film Ghar Se (2020), starring Nimisha Sajayan.[5] In 2021, he wrote and directed the Malayalam web series Instagraamam, starring Deepak Parambol, Balu Varghese, Arjun Ashokan and Ganapathy S. Poduval.[6]

Nair reunited with actor Asif Ali for the crime thriller Kasargold (2023), for which he wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues in addition to directing the film.[7]

B Tech (2018)[edit | edit source]

Produced by Sheen Helen under the banner of MAQTRO Motion Pictures, B Tech marked Nair's feature directorial debut. Starring Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali and Deepak Parambol, the film follows the lives of engineering students navigating friendship, romance and campus life. Nair also wrote the screenplay and appeared in a supporting role.[8]

Ghar Se (2020)[edit | edit source]

Ghar Se is a Malayalam short film directed by Nair during the COVID-19 pandemic. Starring Nimisha Sajayan, the film depicts the emotional impact of the nationwide lockdown and was among the early Malayalam productions completed under pandemic restrictions.[9][10]

Thattum Vellattam[edit | edit source]

Produced by Masood TP, Safeer Ahmed, Rajeev Maroli and Sherin Vennamkattil under the banner of Mars Entertainment, Thattum Vellattam is an upcoming Malayalam-language film written and directed by Nair. The film stars Asif Ali, Soubin Shahir, Saiju Kurup, Balu Varghese and Jean Paul Lal, and is set against the backdrop of Theyyam in northern Kerala.[11]

Kasargold (2023)[edit | edit source]

Produced by Vikram Mehra, Siddharth Anand Kumar, Suraj Kumar and Rinny Divakar under the banners Yoodlee Films and Mukhari Entertainment, Kasargold is a crime thriller directed by Nair from a story, screenplay and dialogues written by him. Starring Asif Ali, Sunny Wayne and Vinayakan, the film revolves around two friends who become entangled in a gold smuggling racket.[12]

Anpodu Kanmani (2025)[edit | edit source]

Produced by Vipin Pavithran under the banner of Kreative Fish, Anpodu Kanmani is a Malayalam family drama directed by Liju Thomaz. The film stars Arjun Ashokan and Anagha Narayanan. Nair wrote the screenplay and dialogues and also appeared in a supporting role.[13]
