Mekhla Dasgupta(born November 7, 1993) is an Indian singer. She has participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, a singing reality show which airs on Zee Bangla where she was among the top 5 finalists in 2016.[1][2]

Early life & education[edit]

Mekhla was born in a small town in West Bengal in India. She completed her graduation with an honors degree in Economics from the University of Calcutta.[3][4]She started her musical journey at an early age from her mother. She started learning music at the age of 5. In 2012 she joined ITC Sangeet Research Academy as a disciple of Shree Kumar Mardur.[5][6]

Awards & Recognition[edit]

Mekhla was awarded the All India Radio special prize in Rabindra Sangeet in 2016. She received debut female nominations for Mirchi Music Awards Bangla and Telly Cine Awards in 2017.[7]

Playback[edit]

She made her playback singing debut with the song Baje Bina composed by the Music Director Jeet Gannguli for a Tollywood movie Dekh Kemon Lage. She voiced multiple scores directed by Upali Chattopadhyay for a web series Maan Bhanjan. She has also lent her voice for tv serials like Saat Vai Champa, Rani Rashmoni, Dhrubotara, Kadombini, Trinoyoni, Jaahanara, among others. Her latest playback was Mon Kyamoner Jonmodin for the movie Hridpindo, which was composed and written by Ranajoy Bhattacharjee.[8][9][10]
