Meer Akhtar Hussain is an Indian politician hailing from Assam. He played a significant role as a Commissioner in the Makum Municipal Board under the banner of the Indian National Congress. Beyond his local responsibilities, he also serves as the Zonal Coordinator for the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sangathan, showcasing his dedication to community-level governance.[1]
Political career[edit | edit source]
In the 2015 Municipal Elections, Meer stood as a candidate for the Municipal Board of Makum under the banner of the Indian National Congress and has won the election and became Commissioner of Makum Municipal Board. He had a strong bond with the late Rameswar Dhanowar, indicating their close working relationship. Beyond that, Meer also plays a role as a Returning Officer within the Indian Youth Congress, where he is responsible for managing important processes like scrutiny of all the new members of INC and conducting Internal party Elections.[2]
