Mathankovilpatti, also known as Mathai, is a [paraiyar]] majority village situated in Virudhunagar district, Sivaksi taluk.
HistoryEdit
The village, its Church, and the schools were established more than hundred years ago by the Missionaries of the Catholic Church. The village is named based on the upagaramatha church which located in the village.
Around 2,000 residents are there in Manthakovilpatti and the literacy level is at 90%. Around 75 % of the people are [[paraiyar,sampavar]s.and also each and every family at least one person working under the govt sector.
OccupationEdit
The primary occupation of the village residents lies in building construction and creating crackers. The village rose into prominence due to the presence of Tamil Nadu Cements (TANCEM),which is located within 4 KM radius. It is a business center of the surrounding villages; and also stopover the transit points to other village.
