Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Aurangabad is a premier educational institute run by Gramodyogik Shikshan Mandal (GSM) trust. Starting in the year 2001, it is an autonomous educational institute offering various engineering and management programs located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. MIT was awarded A grade from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2017 and an autonomous status from University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi in the year 2020.
About Institute[edit]
Gramaudyogik Shikshan Mandal (GSM), Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India is the parent trust (Organization) established in 1975. Maharashtra Institute Technology (MIT), Aurangabad offers a wide range of courses for graduation and post-graduation levels in the faculty of Engineering & Technology. The institute is permanently affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), Aurangabad, and is approved by AICTE, Delhi, and DTE Maharashtra. NAAC has accredited the institute with Grade ‘A’[1].
MIT has received recognition under Section 2(f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act, 1956. UGC has granted autonomous status to our institute. MIT has got accreditation from the Department of Science and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India as a Science and Industrial Research Organization (SIROs). MIT has been empaneled under Unnat Maharashtra Abhiyan, a project by the Ministry of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra. MIT has been also selected under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, a flagship program of Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Government of India. MIT is an Approved ESCO = Empaneled as Energy Service Company approved by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India. MIT has developed strong linkages between industry, government & non-government organizations.
MIT is a pioneer in establishing mutually beneficial triangular partnerships among academic institutions, industry, and government organizations. It also provides solutions to live problems and works on research projects of industries. MIT is associated with GIZ, Germany, Tata Technologies, and MASSIA for working on live industry projects. Institute has an association with more than 300 companies for one-semester mandatory In-Plant Training for B. Tech Final year students. Institute has recognized Ph.D. Research Centers in Mechanical Engineering and Electronics and Telecommunications affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.

Admission Eligibility
For Indian Students:[edit]
If you have passed 12th Std. (HSC or equivalent) and satisfy eligibility criteria as below, then you can seek admission to following courses:
First Year of B.Tech. :
- Candidate should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education OR its equivalent examination AND secured minimum 50% marks (minimum 45% marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories and Physically Handicapped, belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics and Mathematics as compulsory and any one of optional subjects like Chemistry, Biology, Bio-Technology, or Technical Vocational Subject added together AND Candidate should have a valid MHT-CET OR JEE Score.
- Admissions will be affected based on marks obtained at MHT-CET 2021. And if the seats remain vacant, then merit based on marks obtained at JEE Mains Paper – I will be considered.
- Diploma holders who have passed the Diploma course in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 50% marks and medium of instruction as English from the AICTE approved Polytechnics AND should have a valid MHT-CET OR JEE Score.
- Diploma holders who have passed the Diploma course in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 50% marks and medium of instruction as English from the AICTE approved Polytechnics are also eligible for Direct Second Year in an appropriate respective branch in case of vacancies arising after Direct Second Year Admissions as per the guidelines of the Competent Authority.
If you are a Diploma holder and satisfy eligibility criteria as below, then you can seek admission to the following course:
Direct Second (lateral entry) Year of B.Tech:
- You should have passed three years Diploma examination in the relevant field of Engineering/Technology from AICTE approved institutions, with at least 50 % marks (at least 45% marks in the case of candidates of Backward class categories and persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra State only).
If you are a graduate and satisfy the eligibility criteria as below, then you can seek admission to any of the following courses:
First Year M.Tech:
- Candidate should have passed Bachelor Degree or equivalent in the relevant field of Engineering/Technology, specified by the concerned University for admission to a particular Postgraduate course from an AICTE approved institutions, with at least 50 % marks (at least 45% marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories and persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) AND should have obtained score in GATE.
For First Year of MBA:
- Candidate should have passed and obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate ( 45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) in any Full-Time Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination AND should have obtained score in MAH-MBA/MMS-CET or Tests like GMAT, CAT, MAT, ATMA, XAT, CMAT, etc.
For All the above courses:
It is mandatory for all candidates desirous to seek admission to professional courses to complete the formalities of registrations on the DTE website (www.dte.org.in) on appropriate portals, verification of Documents at any of the Facilitation Centers (in the state of Maharashtra), and possession of a merit number. This is applicable for admissions under both CAP as well as Institute Level (Management Quota) Rounds.
- The eligibility criteria mentioned above are subjected to the guidelines from the respective competent authorities from time to time.
- Reservation norms will be as per the guidelines of the Competent Authority / State Govt. / DTE / University as applicable.
- All types of Scholarships are offered to the eligible ones as per the guidelines of the Competent Authority.
