List of provincial governments of Pakistan

From Bharatpedia, an open encyclopedia

The four provincial governments in Pakistan are responsible for the administration of the country's provinces. In addition to these, there is a federal capital territory and two other territories that have similar governmental structures, albeit with some variations. Each province is headed by a non-executive Governor, who is appointed by the President of Pakistan. These Governors function at the provincial level in a manner akin to the role of the President at the federal level.

Each province features a unicameral legislature, known as the provincial assembly, which is directly elected by the public for a term of five years. The provincial assemblies are responsible for electing a Chief Minister, who subsequently appoints a cabinet of ministers from among the assembly members. Additionally, each province is served by a High Court, which is part of the superior judiciary system.
