Khwairakpa Erel
"Khwairakpa Erel" (Meitei: ꯈ꯭ꯋꯥꯢꯔꯥꯛꯄ ꯏꯔꯦꯜ), also known as "Khwairakpa Erel Umang Lai Nongpok Ningthou Khuvam" (Meitei: ꯈ꯭ꯋꯥꯢꯔꯥꯛꯄ ꯏꯔꯦꯜ ꯎꯃꯪ ꯂꯥꯢ ꯅꯣꯡꯄꯣꯛ ꯅꯤꯡꯊꯧ ꯈꯨꯚꯝ), is a sacred island, situated in the middle of the Barak river, in Lakhipur region of Cachar district in Assam. Formerly known as Naraindhor Baba, the island is a pilgrimage site of the people of Assam and Manipur.[1][2][3][4][5]
The site is dedicated to the sylvan deity (Umang Lai), "Khwairakpa", a divine form associated with Nongpok Ningthou. Thousands of devotees thronged to the sacred site every year to seek blessings from the presiding deity.[6][7][8][9][10]
