Khallikote Autonomous College is a state university situated in Brahmapur, Odisha. Its current status as a university came into existence in 2021 when Khallikote Autonomous College was given the status of a unitary university. A similarly named university was a cluster university with five constituent colleges. It was transformed into a unitary university in 2020 and then merged with Berhampur University in 2021, and ceased operation.

The current Khallikote Autonomous College with unitary university status was established in 2021 when Khallikote Autonomous College was given the status of a unitary university. [1]
A similarly named university was established in 2015 as the first cluster university in Odisha. This was achieved by excluding Five colleges from the jurisdiction of Berhampur University (BU) and granting them autonomy, also allowing them to share infrastructure and teaching faculty. The five colleges were Khallikote College, Sashi Bhusan Rath Government Women’s College, Government Science, Chhatrapur College, Binayak Acharya College and Gopalpur College.[2][3] In 2020, the university was changed to a unitary university, i.e., a university with no affiliated colleges, and the five colleges were re-affiliated to BU.[4] In 2021, for financial reasons, the university itself was merged with BU and it ceased operation.[5][6] [7]
A few months before that Khallikote Autonomous College was given the status of a unitary university. [8]
