The film announcement regarding casting Mahat Raghavendra in this film was revealed in around November 2018 following the latter's breakthrough in his career by taking part in second season of Bigg Boss Tamil in 2018.[1] The filmmakers also chose Aishwarya Dutta to play Mahat's love interest who was one of the housemates of Mahat during the second season of the Bigg Boss show where Aishwarya coincidentally emerged as runners-up during the course of the show.[2] The film title Kettavanu Per Edutha Nallavanda was taken from a song which featured in Silambarasan starrer Silambattam.[3] The first look poster of the film was unveiled on 14 January 2019 on the eve of Thai Pongal indicating that the film is closing in on the post-production stage.[4] The first look poster portrays that Mahat pointing his hand towards a still of Silambarasan from the film Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven and it is reported that the lead actor plays the role of an ardent fan of STR.[5]

Controversy[edit]

The first look poster of the film which was released by the filmmakers was highly criticised by the audience for the lazy work as it raised plagiarism issues stating that it resembled a still from a Vishal starrer.[6][7][8]
