Kattalan (transl. Savage forest dweller) is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film directed by Paul George and produced by Shareef Muhammed under the banner of Cubes Entertainments. The film stars Antony Varghese, Siddique, Jagadish, Kabir Duhan Singh and Sunil.[2] The music is composed by Ravi Basrur and B. Ajaneesh Loknath[3], with cinematography by Renadive and editing by Shameer Muhammed.[4]
The film was officially announced on 2 March 2025.[5] Principal photography began on 28 September 2025 in Thailand,[6] with additional shooting taking place in Vagamon, Kollam, Colombo, Dhanushkodi, Tirunelveli and Rameswaram. The film's music had the songs composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath and the background score by Ravi Basrur. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on 28 May 2026 in standard, IMAX, and EPIQ formats.[7]

Development[edit | edit source]
On 22 August 2025, the production of Kattalan began with a traditional pooja ceremony held at Chakkolas Pavilion in Kochi, Ernakulam. The event was attended by the film’s cast and crew, as well as members of the film industry.[8]
Filming[edit | edit source]
The principal photography began September 28, 2025. Major filming took place in Thailand[9], Kothamangalam. The film is shot on Sony VENICE 2 8k camera.
Marketing[edit | edit source]
Antony Varghese plays the lead role in Kattalan. The marketing for the film began with the release of the first look poster on 11 October 2025. Further promotional activities and updates about the cast and production continued in the following months leading up to the scheduled release.[10]
Music[edit | edit source]
The music original background score for Kattalan are composed by Ravi Basrur who replaced B. Ajaneesh Loknath in April 2026. The song Majako Mallika composed by Ajaneesh Loknath released in February 2026[11]

Kattalan is scheduled for release on 28 May 2026 in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, English, Kannada and Tamil.[12]
