Jessica Faleiro is an Indian author and novelist from Goa.[1] She is known for her books Afterlife: Ghost Stories from Goa (2012), and The Delicate Balance of Little Lives (2018).[2][3]
Career[edit | edit source]
Faleiro previously worked in international development.[4] Her first book, Afterlife: Ghost Stories from Goa, a collection of 9 inter-linked ghost stories set in modern Goa, was published in 2012.[2]
Her second book, a literary novel titled The Delicate Balance of Little Lives (2018),[1] explores the lives of five middle-class, Goan women and how they cope with various kinds of loss.[3]
Her work has also appeared in anthologies.[1] In 2018, she co-edited, with R. Benedito Ferrão, a special issue of the João Roque Literary Journal that focuses on Goan diasporic writing and is titled "Goa and its Worlds: A Literary Journey."[5]
Faleiro is also a creative writing mentor and conducts writing workshops.[6] Additionally, she writes about travel, stating that it helps "unlock creativity".[7]
Personal life[edit | edit source]
Faleiro was born in Goa and brought up in Kuwait.[1] She studied at University of Nottingham, Lancaster University and Kingston University, UK.[4] She has lived and worked in various countries, including Kuwait, India, the USA, the United Kingdom and France.[7][4]
