The 12955 / 12956 Jaipur Superfast is one of the most important train of Western railway running between Mumbai in Maharashtra and Jaipur in Rajasthan, India. It is the fastest train under Superfast category of trains; which are running between these two cities. The train has been upgraded with comfortable LHB coaches effectively from 1 November, 2019.

Overview[edit]

This train is the first broad-gauge train from Jaipur Junction and it came into service on 30 January, 1993. Jaipur Superfast is also informally known as Gangaur Express. Before Jaipur Junction was upgraded to broad-gauge, this train ran between Mumbai Central and Durgapura station which is another railway station in Jaipur .

It operates as train number 12955 in Down direction from Mumbai Central to Jaipur and in Up direction as train number 12956 between Jaipur & Mumbai Central. It covers a distance of 1162 kilometers in 17 hrs 55 mins with an average speed of 69 km/h (excluding halts) in Down Direction. In Up direction, the journey is completed in 17 hrs 40 mins at an average speed of 70 km/h (excluding halts). The train runs at maximum speed of 110 km/hr. The train is equipped with Bio toilets. A scheme of meal coupons was first experimented on this train.

Schedule[edit]

It leaves Mumbai Central as train number 12955 on a daily basis and at the end of 19 halts arrives at Jaipur the next day. Train number 12956 leaves Jaipur on a daily basis and arrives at Mumbai Central on the next day.

Important railway halts in both Down and Up directions are: Borivali, Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam, Kota & Sawai Madhopur

Coach composition[edit]

12955 / 56 Jaipur Superfast has LHB rakes. The train has one First AC CUM second AC Coach, one Second AC Coach, 6 Third AC Coaches, 9 Second sleeper coaches, 2 Unreserved coaches, one pantry car and 2 coaches end-on-generator car for both up and down services.

Ith hauled by a WAP 4 or WAP 5 of Vadodara loco shed between Mumbai Central and Sawai Madhopur jn and the a WDP 4/B/D hauls the train for rest journey.
