Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda is located in Gujarat Ayurved University campus, Jamnagar, Gujarat, India. It has been declared as an institute of national importance dedicated to Ayurvedic studies and research.[1]

History[edit]

In 2020, it took over anteceding Institutions, namely, the Institute of Post Graduate Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, Shree Gulabkunverba Ayurved Mahavidyalaya and the Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences all situated in Jamnagar. It also took over Maharshi Patanjali Institute for Yoga and Naturopathy Education and Research to establish a Department of Swasthvritta.[2][3] Gujarat Ayurved University was founded as part of the reorganization of Ayurveda, after India gained independence from Britain in August 1947. It was established in 1967 with its headquarters at Jamnagar, Gujarat.[4]
