The Institute of Regional Studies, Islamabad [1] is an independent, non-profit research center dedicated to the comprehensive study of the region surrounding Pakistan. This includes the Indian subcontinent, Southwest Asia (specifically Iran, Afghanistan, and the Persian Gulf), China, Central Asia, and the Indian Ocean region. The institute also focuses on analyzing the policies of major power centers in relation to the Indian subcontinent.

Established in November 1981 by Agha Ibrahim Akram, the Institute of Regional Studies has gained recognition as one of Pakistan's leading think tanks. It conducts in-depth research and provides policy recommendations on various regional issues, contributing to the understanding of geopolitical dynamics and fostering informed discussions among policymakers, scholars, and the public.
