Gupt Vrindavan Dham is an upcoming Hindu temple and spiritual-cultural complex currently under construction in the Jagatpura area of Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Developed by the Hare Krishna Movement (HKM), the project is scheduled to open to the public in 2027 to coincide with the 300th anniversary of Jaipur's founding.[1]
Background and name[edit | edit source]
The name "Gupt Vrindavan" (Hidden Vrindavan) references the historical period in the 17th and 18th centuries when prominent deities from Vrindavan—including Radha Govinda Dev Ji, Radha Gopinath Ji, and Radha Madan Mohan Ji—were moved to Jaipur under the protection of the Rajput rulers to preserve them from Mughal iconoclasm.
Architecture and scale[edit | edit source]
Spread across a 6-acre site, Gupt Vrindavan Dham is being built at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore and is designed to be the largest temple and cultural complex in Rajasthan.[2]
The 17-story complex covers a footprint of approximately 3.5 lakh square feet and features a 25,000-square-foot main temple hall with an arched canopy (chhatri) rising nearly 180 feet. The structural plan incorporates traditional Rajasthani stone and arch designs integrated with contemporary construction engineering.
Planned deities and facilities[edit | edit source]
Upon its consecration, the temple's sanctum sanctorum will feature three central altars dedicated to:
- Sri Sri Krishna Balaram
- Sri Sri Radha Shyamsundar
- Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga (Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Nityananda)
The complex is planned to incorporate:
- An interactive 3D exhibition on the Mahabharata, Ramayana, and Krishna's pastimes
- A large Harinam Mandap for continuous devotional singing and chanting
- An Annadaan hall for daily distribution of free sanctified vegetarian meals (prasadam)
- An educational centre providing seminars on the Bhagavad Gita and Vedic arts
- A dedicated cow shelter (Gaushala)[3]
