Genie is an Indian upcoming Tamil-language fantasy film written and directed by debutant Bhuvanesh Arjunan. It is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under Vels Films International. The film stars Jayam Ravi and Krithi Shetty, alongside Kalyani Priyadarshan and Wamiqa Gabbi. A. R. Rahman is composing the music and background scores for the film.

Development[edit]
In March 2023, it was reported that actor Jayam Ravi, producer Ishari K. Ganesh and music director A. R. Rahman would do a pan-Indian film together with a budget of ₹100 crore.[1] In April, Krithi Shetty was announced as the lead female role.[2] Kalyani Priyadarshan and Wamiqa Gabbi were also reported to play roles in the film.[3] A muhurat puja was held on 5 July.[4]
Filming[edit]
Principal photography began on 5 July 2023.[5] A grand set was erected in a film city in Chennai and is said to be a three-week filming schedule in the set.[6]
Music[edit]
The music and background scores are composed by A. R. Rahman in his maiden collaboration with Bhuvanesh and third with Ravi after Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022) and Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023).[7]

Theatrical[edit]
Genie's release date is yet-to-be revealed. Although apart from releasing on Tamil, it is also releasing on Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.[8]
