Kavarai or Gavara are one of the Community or caste of Tamil Nadu and Andhra.
Their earliest occupation was 'Conch' Cutting into Making bracelet's and Bangle's
In Tamil Nadu Valaingar (Mutharaiyar) Community 29 Sub-division's among the 'Muthiriya Kavarai' and also complimented Who worked in the Deforesting and them as the best agriculturist's of the area.
In Andhra Settlement's of 'Kavarai' Tamizh Community as a 'Gavara' Mother tongue Tamil was forgotten because they are Settled in Andhra many centuries.
Inscriptions[edit]
Inscriptions form an important source of information on the history of the Kavarai Community.
A number of Inscriptions issued between 6th to 12th Centuries A.D. at the Places like Tiruchirappalli,Chengam, Tirunelveli, Thanjavur, Dharapuram, Vaniyambadi, Tirupathur offer's Much More Information about a Root of Tamil 'Kavarai' Community from Native of Tamil Speaking Region.
In Andhra also Kurnool District Manual -1886 describes 'Kavarai' Community Introduced by the Chola's of South and some of whom still hold the office of Curnam in the Coastal Villages.
Kavarai's or Gavaras. A number of inscriptions issued between the 13th & 15th centuries A.D. at places like Panchdarlu, Draksharamam, Gudimetta, Tatikonda, Malkapuram, Kolakaluru, Kopparam and Srisailam offer much information about the services of the Gavara families under the Kakatiya dynasty power. Similarly the copper plate records like the Narsipatnam plates of Vajrahasta Deva of the Eastern Gangas dated 1045 A.D. offer clues on ‘Gaurasetti Vishaya' one of the early settlements of the Kavarai's name strain and Laterly Casting Ethnicity Change Tamil to Telugu.
