Garry Sahota is an Indian entrepreneur, former theatre artist and actor. He is the founder of Bharatpedia, an online encyclopedia launched in August 2020, and the Bharatmedia Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2021.[1][2]

Acting career[edit | edit source]
Before entering entrepreneurship, Sahota pursued a career in acting and theatre. From 2006-2007, he participated in various fashion shows organised by the National Institute of Fashion Designing (N.I.F.D.) across India. He subsequently featured in music videos, including Davinder Deol's Sharaban, Babu Chandigarhia's Sunday Nu Bazaar Khul Gaya, and Roop. In 2012, Sahota made his television debut with an episodic role in the Sony Entertainment Television series Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, followed by an appearance in Rab Se Sohna Isshq.[3][4]
Entrepreneurship[edit | edit source]
In August 2020, Sahota founded Bharatpedia, an online encyclopedia focused on topics related to India. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, he said that one of the project's objectives was to encourage greater participation by women editors and contributors from diverse backgrounds.[1]
In 2021, Sahota established the Bharatmedia Foundation, a non-profit organization affiliated with Bharatpedia. The foundation was established to support Bharatpedia and its associated educational projects. Bharatpedia later introduced multilingual editions and the subscription service Bharatpedia Plus.[5][2]
