Plot (Season 1)[edit]

File:Season one of Gangaa'poster.jpeg
The first season of Gangaa Childhood Gangaa.

The show revolves around a child named Gangaa, who becomes a widow on the same day as her marriage when her husband and her father Varun Shukla whom she was very close, are killed in Varanasi. The show follows her struggle for her right to live happily, opposing the restrictions placed upon widows by society despite being at an agent responsible for help at which she did not know the meaning of marriage. Gangaa is adopted by Advocate Niranjan Chaturvedi and his wife Madhvi, who soon treat as their own daughter and like their two other children, Pulkit and Sagar, despite the objection of Niranjan's mother, Kanta. Gangaa is raised by Ammaji who treated her like a widowed servant. Gangaa is taught the ways a widow should live, much to her dislike. But she still loves Ammaji and never disobeyed her.

The story develops Gangaa and Sagar's childhood friendship. The two children constantly compete in ingenuity, sometimes even in conflict, to unmask the low blows of certain antagonists of the series related to Chaturvedis like Omkar or Shanta who was accidentally responsible for Madhvi's miscarriage towards the end of the first season.

One day, Sagar had to apply vermilion to Gangaa's forehead to save his life because he had a hole in his heart. Sagar and Gangaa are separated when Sagar moves to London to study in a boarding school. This was planned by a Madhvi manipulated by the sly aunt Prabah, and Ammaji, who thought Sagar would be away from them if he continues living with Gangaa.

10 years later in Gangaa; Sagar ki Gangaa.

Gangaa is now grown up and has been waiting for Sagar. Her love for him is implacable as she adores vermilion, believing she is fulfilling her duty as Sagar's wife. Gangaa has always loved Sagar. Sahil wishes to marry her but Gangaa expresses her love to Sagar, she is shocked to find he likes Janvi, who studied with Sagar in London. Gangaa is heartbroken. Gradually, Sagar cares and supports her in her problems and finally, he expresses his love by applying vermilion to her forehead in family. His family, especially Madhvi, opposes this relationship because Gangaa is a widow whom they cannot let their son marry. Sagar decides to marry Gangaa in court and then leave for Delhi. Meanwhile, Niranjan's eldest son, Pulkit decides to have his share of the property and splits the house into two. Niranjan could not tolerate this and suffers a heart attack. He pleads Gangaa to return his Sagar to him and Gangaa agrees. Enraged by this, Sagar marries Janvi, but regrets. Gangaa then meets a lawyer, Palash and decides to join an internship under him. Meanwhile, Yash insists Janvi take drugs, which result in her death. Afraid, Yash hangs Janvi's body from a ceiling fan to make it look like a suicide, and leaves a suicide note written by Janvi, making Sagar is responsible for her death.

Gangaa pleads with Palash to take Sagar's case. Palash takes up the case and the family is bailed out except Sagar. As the case proceeds, Palash becomes negative and thinks of letting Sagar stay in jail so he could marry Gangaa, so he starts hiding evidences. Gangaa and Sagar almost escape a witness from Palash's hands Palash is sentenced to two years in jail. Sagar returns home while Palash and Yash are arrested and that Ratan is believed to have been killed by an accident, which leaves a mystery hanging. Earlier, Ammaji, having wanted to give Gangaa as a sacrifice to charlatans while thinking of saving her grandson from the ghost of Janvi, quickly changes her mind and decides to marry her to Sagar. When friends of Gangaa and Sagar come to stay in the house, Widow Prabha, takes advantage of the attraction and the mental illness of one of them to snatch his nephew from his worst enemy. But things work out pretty quickly, and the Gangaa's marriage is arranged.

Trying to separate Gangaa and Sagar once again, Prabha contacts her son in prison to have a product that she should mix in Gangaa's drink. Unfortunately, the same drink is drunk by Sagar and he comes very close to Gangaa. The next morning Sagar does not remember anything that happens between him and Gangaa. The marriage day comes; while taking the (pheras), Gangaa collapses and it is revealed that she is pregnant. Sagar refuses to believe the child is his as he doesn't remembers having spent any night alone with her. He questions Gangaa's character and says she approached another man as an explanation.

Disheartened, Gangaa leaves the house. Prabha causes the miscarriage of Supriya (Pulkit's Wife) before Ragini and her brother Rudra reveal the truth to the Chaturvedi family who drive her out of the house instead of sending him to jail. In the meantime, Gangaa meets Rahat, who takes care of poor, homeless girls. Gangaa joins her family. Rahat's daughter Zoya is raped and her husband is murdered by Rudra. Sagar refuses to believe Rudra could do this. Later, it is believed Rahat and Niranjan were lovers in college and that Zoya was Niranjan's illegitimate daughter. But Rahat married Dr. Sameer Mirza to give legitimate name to Zoya. Ammaji hid this secret from Niranjan because Rahat was from a different religion and she sent Niranjan to London for studies. After a long court-case drama, Zoya reveals to Rudra that she loves him, the rape charges are fake and she murdered her husband; Rudra records everything but it is deleted by Zoya. He somehow records the confession shortly after, by forcing Zoya to tell the truth.

Rahat sees the confession and slaps her daughter, but Zoya tries to snatch a camera. In the resulting fight, Rahat slips and falls to her death from the terrace. Niranjan takes Zoya to his house, to which his wife does not agree. Sagar decides to leave the house with his mother and goes to London as he believes Niranjan doesn't care about him and his mother but Zoya. Meanwhile, leap months have appeared and Gangaa gives birth to a baby girl on the day of Krishna Janmanashtmi. She names her daughter as Krishna and decides to move on.

7 years later[edit]

Became a renowned lawyer, Gangaa brings up her daughter, Krishna alone in the Rahat sadan home with her friend Kashish. Sagar, who is unaware Krishna is his daughter, goes to Banaras on Ammaji insistence. In a jungle, he comes across Krishna, who is lost, and takes care of her. Krishna is instantly attached to him. He doubts that Krishna is Gangaa's child as she resembles child Gangaa. He drops her home without meeting Gangaa. One day, Sagar and Gangaa came across each other; Krishna recognizes Sagar as the man who helped her in the jungle (Junglee Uncle). She is pleased to see him back but Gangaa takes her home.

Sagar plans to leave Banaras whereas Gangaa cannot answer Krishna's question about her father. She herself sets out to find her father. She again comes across Sagar but collapses in his arms. She is rushed to hospital where Gangaa reveals that Krishna has a hole in her heart and it is genetic; Krishna's father had the same problem in childhood. Sagar is shocked, and he emotionally asks Gangaa who is Krishna's father but she does not reply as it's irrelevant to him. Sagar refuses to go to London without finding answers.

One day, at Durga Pandal, Yash who escaped in prison after an altercation with Rudra, takes Krishna to blackmail Gangaa that he will kill her daughter; he reveals at the same time that his mother (Prabha) mixed something in Sagar's drink, which is why he does not remember to have spent a night with Gangaa 7 years ago. Sagar and family are shocked; Gangaa and Krishna go to their home. Sagar is sorry and asks for forgiveness but Gangaa does not budge and is not ready listen as Sagar had questioned her character and shown no trust in her which is the pillar of every relationship. Forced to stay away from Gangaa, Sagar returns to tell her he came for Krishna and asks Krishna to come with him but Gangaa stops him as Krishna decides to stay with her mom. He then sends Notice for Custody of Krishna, which is followed by a long court case. Sagar wins the case as Krishna chooses Sagar.

In the case of Pulkit and Supriya, the lack of children in their lives creates a rift between them. Pulkit is going to have an illegitimate relationship with Kashish, Gangaa's friend, who, in order not to lose him, will later invent a pregnancy story which Gangaa will expose to everyone towards the end of the season. To try to fix things, the Chaturvedis will adopt a girl named Juwi thinking they can stabilize the marital relationship of Surpiya and her husband. But quickly, they soon regret the act when Supriya becomes too protective of her adopted daughter and begins to hate her in-laws because she thinks they love Gangaa's daughter more than his. But eventually, everything is back to normal in their case, and Juwi is definitely accepted by the family.

Meanwhile, Gangaa and Sagar discover the truth on Zoya when she plans to kill Krishna as she made with his mother (Raahat), in order to seize more inheritance property of Niranjan. Unable the tolerate Zoya's attitude, Niranjan breeze the promise to Rahat, and asking Zoya to leave the house (instead of send her in prison); which allows Madhvi and Sagar to stay home forever to the delight of the whole family. After that, they somehow convince Gangaa to stay at a Chaturvedi sadan for one week to prove who loves Krishna the most.

Later, after the move of their family, Gangaa, Sagar and Krishna witness a major boat accident in a Ganges river on Makar Sankranti so, Gangaa loses her memory. Niranjan dies due to shock of losing of Sagar, Krishna and Gangaa.

Plot (Season 3)[edit]

The season 3 of Gangaa; Shiv ki Gangaa.

A man named Shiv Jha saves Gangaa's life. He was marrying a girl called Gangaa, who was wearing the same saree that Gangaa was wearing. Shiv mistakes Sagar's Gangaa as his own Gangaa. Sagar tries to find Gangaa but Gangaa, as told by Shiv, goes to his house (a house simply resembling a repainted version of the old Chaturvedi house) as his bride. After harsh treatment, Gangaa makes her own place and both Gangaa and Shiv started developing feelings for each other although some of Shiv's family members are against this union for personal ambitions. Just then, Sagar arrives, finding Gangaa. He stays there for many days because he is injured. One day, Shiv sees Sagar's family and is shocked to see Gangaa there. Gangaa shows his face to Sagar and Sagar instantly recognizes his Gangaa. He forces Gangaa to go with him. Shiv finds out the truth and is shocked when he learns that Gangaa is actually Sagar's wife.

He returns Gangaa to him and on the way, some goons attack them and Gangaa's memory comes back due to head injury. Hidden somewhere, Pratab , Shiv's brother, shoots Sagar in the chest; he was going to shoot Shiv but Sagar gets in between. Gangaa cries and pleads to Shiv for help. At the hospital, Sagar dies and he made Shiv promise that he will not leave Gangaa. Shiv fills Gangaa's forehead with his blood as a sign of vermilion. Gangaa denies being Shiv's wife and wants to be Sagar's widow. It is decided that Gangaa must stay with Shiv for a month. After another harsh and unfair treatment that Shiv inflicts on him to keep her occupied, Gangaa finished by find out following an altercation with brigands that her daughter Krishna is dead, which saddens him. Then, Radhika's attachment to Gangaa, Shiv's daughter, ends up causing this conflicting couple to develop feelings that are as loving as they are vague for each other. Gangaa's secret investigation into the disappearance of Parvati who is none other than the Shiv's ex-wife and Radhika's mother, is more and more in depth when initially paranormal phenomena manifest themselves in the house before it is discovered that it is the twin sister of the deceased.

In a rushed scene, the truth about Pratab and his mother is revealed. After the young man's arrest, Shiv's stepmother suddenly becomes kind while Jumki, Pratab's wife, still continues to hide the lie of her pregnancy. When it comes to Shiv and Gangaa, confessing their feelings helps them get married and live together. Gangaa starts an Elementary School (Sagar Vidhyalaya) in memory of Sagar.

Parallel story arcs[edit]

Apart from the love story of Gangaa-Sagar and Shiv-Gangaa, the show also focusses on Madhvi and Niranjan. Madhvi thinks Niranjan had an affair with her cousin Barkha and got separated from Niranjan but later finds it was fake and reunites with Niranjan. After the more than 10 years, it is revealed that Niranjan had an affair with a Muslim girl named Raahat (before marriage), which leads to distance between him and Madhvi. With the departure of Madhvi and Sagar from the Chaturvedi family, the relationship between Pulkit and Supriya worsens and also because of the miscarriage of Supriya. Pulkit started feeling lonely and starts having a secret affair with Gangaa's best friend Kashish, who also truly loved him. Their affair is revealed and they have to break up. The relationship of Supriya and Pulkit is retained with the arrival of their adopted daughter Juhi. Later on, Madhvi and Niranjan are also reunited. When Pulkit was young he loved his classmate Saloni till he grew up but Saloni only liked him in teenage and decides to go for arranged marriage to someone else (on insistence of Father AKA MLA Srivastava) which hurts Pulkit that she doesn't love him also as he had no good job. Then, he married Supriya with whom he soon fell in love.

Even Prabha, during the first season, was embroiled in similar stories because of a card game between "rich friends" which led to a huge misunderstanding in which she bet her husband during a game opposing him to a nice, naive and old acquaintance. When she has lost by a stroke of fate, considered sold, Ratan and Yash leave her only to later discover that it was all a staging aimed at making her understand her mistake. It is only after that that a new calmer and less aggressive Prabha towards Gangaa is revealed to all viewers towards the end of Season 1 but later she causes lot of trouble, tries to cause drama in Ganga and Sagar's relationship and separates them (constant manipulation of Madhvi as sister-in-law and Veiled Lady, smoke in Ammaji's room with Gangaa, MMS case, Ragini and drug in Sagar's drink that night) in Season 2.
