History:
Gandhi Nagar is a main sub village and ward no-6 of Thekkalur panchayat[1]. Gandhi Nagar was formed by S. Balasundaram (comrade) & left party - CPI(M)[2] persons at the year of 1993 with support of VAO (Balu) & some Government officials.There after selvi .J. Jayalaitha gave patta for 130 families. Some near by people are refusing to accept this action. 1 year later that same community people are demolished balasundaram house. He was confronted with presence . Finally Everyone realize his mistake and submit their apologies to balasundaram. There after 1996 local bodies election he was elected ward member period of (1996-2001) The after he was Elected ward councilor of Thekkalur (2001-2006). He was made lot of changes in Gandhi Nagar past three decades.
currently 300 families and are living with all basic amenities and good infrastructures peacefully Gandhi Nagar is a sixth[1] ward in Thekkalur panchayat. And its comes 17 ward of a Avinashi Union[3]. Here all basic amenities are available compared to other sub villages.
