The will of Dame Elizabeth Jones, 12 December 1696, was proved 12 August 1699. Inscribed: "Here lieth the Body of the Lady Eliz' Jones Mother to Sir John Robinson by John Robinson Esq. And after Married to Sir Wm Jones Knt, She Departed this Life the 27th of July, 1699, Aged 68 years." Philip Morant, History of Essex, p. 99, states that Elizabeth, daughter of Edmund Alleyn, of Little Lees, in Essex, married first to John Robinson; afterward to Sir William Jones, Attorney-general to Charles II.
