In this video, the couple, Bimala and K.S. Badwal, both speakers of the Marcha dialect of the Rongpo language of India discuss the nostalgic past of each other's hometowns in their native language. Interviewed in 2019 by Subhashish Panigrahi during his 2021 documentary film, MarginalizedAadhaar. Unused or trimmed archival footage from the film was edited by Panigrahi and published under the OpenSpeaks Archives project in 2025. Hindi subtitles are by Kimmi Pal, native speaker and OpenSpeaks Fellow, with edits by Panigrahi, and English translations by Panigrahi. Metadata

| Review notes | Review was conducted by Kimmi Pal in 2025 with advisory support from her mother, Bhawani Pal—both native Rongpo speakers and belong to two generations. They listened to the recordings and subtitled them in Hindi. Tense usage raised some disagreement, later resolved through comparison with Hindi forms (target subtitle language). Minor dialectal differences occasionally hindered comprehension; these instances were marked. Bhawani, whose maternal family is from the speakers’ region, identified several dialect-specific words. Some audio sections had minor technical issues. Certain weaving-related terms lacked direct Hindi equivalents, reflecting localised cultural vocabulary. |
