Federalism in Pakistan

From Bharatpedia, an open encyclopedia

Pakistan operates as a federal parliamentary republic, where powers are shared between the federal government and the provinces. The relationship between the federation and the provinces is outlined in Part V (Articles 141–159) of the Constitution. Numerous political parties in Pakistan adhere to federalist and regionalist ideologies, advocating for greater autonomy and powers to be vested in the provinces. The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination plays a crucial role in managing federal relations among the provinces, while the Senate of Pakistan is regarded as a unifying body that represents the interests of the provinces at the national level.
