The Embassy of India in Paramaribo is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of India to Suriname.[1]

Ambassador[edit | edit source]

S. Balachandra is the current Indian ambassador to Suriname. Ambassador reports to the Ministry of External Affairs.[2]

India Culture Centre[edit | edit source]

Embassy operates Indian Council for Cultural Relations's Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) in Paramaribo. Culture centre was established in 1978. The centre regularly conducts various events activities to promote cultural exchange between India and Suriname.[3]

The Centre provides training in Hindi, Kathak, yoga and Indian classical music. As of December 2016, there are approximately 80 voluntary Hindi schools in the country.[4]
