'ESIC Medical College, Gulbarga, formally known as Employees' State Insurance Corporation Medical College and Hospital, Gulbarga, is a central government co-educational medical college located at Sedam Road, Gulbarga, the northern city in Karnataka, India. It is a Medical Council of India recognised medical college established in 2013 under the patronage of the ESI Corporation, a central autonomous body under Ministry of Labour and Employment of the Government of India.[1] The institute is under the administrative control of the ESI Corporation. It is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Bangalore. The college is attached to a 500-bed multi-specialty hospital which was built in 2013 andt became operational in 2014.[2] The campus is spread over 75 acres and provides primary and tertiary healthcare facilities to the workers insured under the ESI corporation as well as non-insured persons and is one of the tertiary care referral centers for smaller ESI clinic and dispensaries.

The following courses are offered

  • Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.)
  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.)
  • Bachelor of Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing)

Admission[edit]

There is a yearly entrance exam for 100 seats in the M.B.B.S. course National Eligibility and Entrance Test. The college offers 15% of seats via All India Quota, 50% seats via the State Quota and 35% via the IP quota.

Medical College[edit]

There are five centrally air conditioned gallery type lecture halls to teach undergraduate students. The central library is equipped with an e-library, HELINET,audiovisual aids and more than 5000 books for reference. The Medical Education Unit regularly conducts research, seminar and Continuing medical education (CME) conferences for students. There are six museums at the college.[3]
