There is no mention of any queen, consort, or regent named "Tarini Devi" or "Tarini Mahadevi" in any Chalukya inscription, grant, or scholarly work. Origin of the confusion: In Indian school textbooks and Pre-University (PUC) history exam question banks in Karnataka, standard questions on Pulakeshin II ("Explain the achievements of Pulakeshin II") often immediately precede questions on 19th-century social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy ("Name the parents of Raja Ram Mohan Roy: Ramakant Roy and Tarinidevi").
