St. Augustine's Day School, Barrackpore was established in 1985 as part of the educational institutions developed by the St. Augustine Education Society. The society was founded in 1970, and the Barrackpore school became one of its co-educational English-medium schools.[3][4]

The school is situated in Barrackpore, a historic cantonment town in West Bengal. According to the school, the institution was established with the aim of providing English-medium education to children from the local community and has subsequently developed into a school offering education up to the ISC level.[3]

Over time, the school expanded its academic and extracurricular programmes and introduced additional facilities for practical and technology-supported learning. Its activities have also included academic competitions, cultural programmes, sports and student leadership events.[5]

St. Augustine's Day School, Barrackpore follows the curriculum of CISCE. Students prepare for the ICSE examination at Class X and the ISC examination at Class XII.[1][6]

In the 2026 ICSE examination, Noirrhit Basu of St. Augustine's Day School, Barrackpore scored 499 out of 500. The Times of India listed Basu among the students who achieved the highest score in the examination in West Bengal.[8]

The school also holds annual programmes to recognise academic achievement and student performance. In 2025, nearly 800 students from Upper Nursery to Class XII were recognised during the school's annual prize distribution and investiture ceremony.[5]

Alongside academic instruction, the school provides students with opportunities to take part in sports, cultural programmes, competitions and leadership activities. Student councils and investiture programmes form part of the school's activities.[5]

The annual investiture ceremony provides an opportunity for students to take on responsibilities within the student council. In 2025, the newly appointed student council members formally assumed their responsibilities for the academic session.[5]
