Smith Nazareth Gonsalves is an Indian cybersecurity strategist, entrepreneur, researcher and international speaker. He is the founder and director (also described as Chief Information Security Officer) of CyberSmithSECURE, a CERT-In empanelled cybersecurity firm specialising in offensive security, red teaming, virtual CISO (vCISO) services, vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (VAPT), cyber-risk management and enterprise defence.[1][2]
He has been described in media and industry profiles as one of India’s younger cybersecurity professionals. In 2026 he was named among the Global 30 Under 30 in Cybersecurity by Top Cyber News Magazine (France), representing India.[3][4]
Early life and education[edit source]
Gonsalves developed an early interest in computers and entered professional cybersecurity during his teenage years. He completed his schooling in Mumbai.[5]
At the age of 15 he obtained the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) certifications from EC-Council under special age approval. He later earned the Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification at the age of 19 and became a Chief Information Security Officer at the age of 21.[6][2]
He holds a Master’s degree in Cyber Security and a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital and Cyber Forensics and Related Law from the University of Mumbai. He completed a Ph.D. (Doctoral Research Programme in Computer Science / Cyber Security) at Pacific Academy of Higher Education & Research University (Pacific University), Udaipur. His doctoral research focused on counter-adversarial simulations of defensive and offensive systems using stochastic games, Markov models and game theory. Research interests include adversarial behaviour, ransomware resilience, artificial intelligence, cyber deterrence and national security.[7][1]
Additional certifications include Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA, Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) from the Cloud Security Alliance, and TOGAF enterprise architecture credentials.

Gonsalves has worked with law enforcement agencies on cybercrime investigations, digital forensics, cyber threat intelligence (CTI), OSINT and related training for investigators, government officials, corporates, students and NGOs. He has been associated as a research scholar with the National Cyber Defence Research Centre (NCDRC) and served as a national technical committee member.[5][1]
Earlier professional roles included advisory work with MitKat Advisory Services and CISO positions with organisations such as Ather Energy and E-Con Packaging.[7]
In 2019 he founded CyberSmithSECURE Private Limited (CIN U72900MH2019PTC329641). The firm provides offensive security, red teaming, vCISO advisory, cyber-risk management, regulatory compliance and cyber resilience programmes to clients across India, the Middle East, the United States, Australia, Europe and other regions. It is CERT-In empanelled and has served startups, unicorns and multinational corporations in sectors including IT, banking, automotive, logistics and healthcare.[1][2]
He has spoken at national and international conferences and summits, including Cybertech Global Tel Aviv (2026), GISEC Global, InterSec, Identity Shield Summit 2026, CyberPro at Chitkara University, and earlier events linked to DefCon, OWASP, Cloud Security Alliance chapters and national information security summits. Topics have included emerging cyber threats, advanced attack simulations, AI-driven risks, nation-state tactics, digital sovereignty, India–Israel cybersecurity cooperation, building resilient detection pipelines, and the need for India to move from technology consumer to creator.[8][9][10]
Media coverage has also highlighted his emphasis on cybersecurity awareness for individuals and organisations.[11]
