Devendra Jain is the managing director and chief executive officer of Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL)[1] He joined the organisation in 1995 and was appointed its chief executive officer in April 2009.[2]
Education and early career[edit source]
Devendra Jain earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Vikram University, Ujjain.[1] Before joining Dilip Builders, he worked as an assistant professor at Mahatma Gandhi College, Bhopal, and Swami Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya.[3]
Career at Dilip Buildcon[edit source]
Devendra Jain joined Dilip Builders in 1995 as an engineering graduate.[1] He became chief executive officer of Dilip Buildcon on 1 April 2009 and later became managing director and chief executive officer.[2][4]
When Devendra Jain joined the organisation, it was undertaking smaller construction projects primarily in Madhya Pradesh. DBL subsequently expanded into road construction and other infrastructure segments and began operating across several Indian states. In a 2018 feature, The CEO Magazine highlighted his role in DBL’s expansion and its transition from subcontracting to directly executing projects on an engineering, procurement and construction basis.[2]

Company disclosures describe Devendra Jain's responsibilities as including project implementation, quality of work, timely completion, finance, accounting, costing and budgeting.[3] DBL's official leadership profile additionally associates him with project monitoring and controls and the adoption of technology in project execution.[1] These descriptions are statements by the company and should not be presented as independent assessments of his performance.
The 2018 CEO Magazine profile described DBL's operating approach during his leadership as involving pre-bid due diligence, ownership of construction equipment, direct project execution and limited dependence on subcontractors. It also reported that project planning and monitoring were used to manage construction schedules across the company's operations.[2]

Devendra Jain is a member of Dilip Buildcon's board of directors and is identified in the company's disclosures as part of its promoter group.[4] In his executive capacity, he participates in the overall management of the company. Technology initiatives[edit source]
During Devendra Jain's tenure as chief executive, DBL implemented SAP S/4HANA with IBM and Kyndryl.[5] According to Kyndryl's case study, the platform integrated business intelligence, finance and controlling, human resources and materials-management functions across DBL's project sites.[6] Both accounts were published by technology partners involved in the work; they verify the implementation but do not independently establish Devendra Jain's personal role in it.

Devendra Jain has spoken publicly about DBL's project-delivery model and the development of India's infrastructure sector. In the 2018 CEO Magazine interview, he discussed the company's focus on direct execution, advance assessment of project conditions and maintaining control over equipment and staffing.[2] Commentary concerning DBL's financial results or future plans should be attributed to the particular interview or company filing in which it appeared.

In 2016, Devendra Jain was named runner-up for Infrastructure Person of the Year by Construction Week.[7] In 2018, he received the Infrastructure Person of the Year award at the eighth annual Construction Week India Awards.[8][9]
