Ali Zulfikar Zahedi[1](Bengali: আলী জুলফিকার জাহেদী; born 1 January 1976) is a Bangladeshi filmmaker, screenwriter, lyricist, and producer.[2][3] He is best known for his feature film Kagoj:The Paper (2022),[4] which was showcased at several national and international film festivals.[5][6]

Early life[edit]

Zahedi was born on 1 July 1976 in Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Before entering the film industry, he worked in the corporate sector. He later shifted his focus to media and cinema in 2014.[7] In addition to his contributions as a filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter, Zahedi maintains an active career in the corporate sector.[8]

Career[edit]

Zahedi began his career with short films and later moved on to feature filmmaking. His 2020 short film The Sound was screened at several international festivals.[9]

In 2022, he directed his debut feature-length film Kagoj (English: The Paper), a drama that explores social and personal struggles. The film was officially selected in multiple international film festivals worldwide.[10] [11] Apart from directing, Zahedi has also contributed as a lyricist and screenwriter for various projects in Bangladeshi cinema and television.[12]

Personal life[edit]

Zahedi is married to Samia Habib, a flight attendant. They have one son, Ali Addrian Zahedi, who has also acted in films.
