The Alaknanda River, situated in Uttarakhand, India, is a significant Himalayan river that converges with the Bhagirathi River to form the mighty Ganges River.


Origin[edit]

The Alaknanda River originates from the Satopanth and Bhagirath Kharak glaciers in the Garhwal Himalayas. The river meets the Saraswati River via the Mana River and then flows gently through various valleys, passing through the Badrinath Valley. From there, it merges with Ghrit Ganga at Hanuman Chatti. Further downstream, it converges with the Dhauliganga at Vishnuprayag, the Nandakini River at Nandaprayag, the Pindar River, and then the Mandakini River at Rudraprayag. Finally, it merges with the Bhagirathi River at Devprayag to form the Ganges River.
