Chinna Jameen is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Raj Kapoor and starring Karthik, Sukanya and important role R. P. Viswam. The movie introduced former actress, Vineetha in her Tamil & acting debut. The film had a musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 13 November 1993 to generally positive reviews. It ran for more than 100 days.[1][2][3]

Plot[edit]

Rasaiya (Karthik) is brought up as an innocent man who suffers torture in the hands of his cruel uncle Rathnavel (R. P. Viswam) to get hold of his property for which Rasaiya is considered as legal heir. He falls in love with Jothi (Vineetha) however Rathnavel sets his henchman to molest and kill her.

Sathya (Sukanya) who joins as a Village Officer (V.O) in the village turns out to be Jothi's sister has arrived to avenge her sister's death. With the help of Rasaiya's friends, she transforms Rasaiya into a normal and strong person. In the end, Rasaiya kills Rathnavel and his henchmen and becomes a new heir to the palace.

Soundtrack[edit]

The film score and the soundtrack were composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The soundtrack, released in 1993, features 5 tracks with lyrics written by Vaali.[4]

Reception[edit]

The Indian Express criticised Karthik's performance citing "he is plainly out of elements" and Raj Kapoor's "script and treatment dont help either".[5]
