Charan Waghmare
Charan Waghmare is a politician who served as a member of the 13th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2019. He was elected as MLA from the Tumsar Assembly Constituency. He belonged to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).[1] In 2012, Waghmare was chairman of finance and works committee of Bhandara Zilla Parishad.[2] In 2014 he was president of Bhandara district BJP.[3]

Waghmare was chairman of the works committee of Bhandara Zilla Parishad (BZP) between June–July 2010 to January 2013. When he finished his term in 2019, he opened a branch of Vikas Foundation 2019.
2019 Maharashtra Legislative AssemblyEdit
For the 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, BJP denied ticket for the Tumsar Assembly Constituency to Charan Waghmare, instead chose Pradeep Motiram Padole.[4] In the aftermath, Charan Waghmare decided to contest the election as an independent candidate. He narrowly lost to sitting MLA Raju Karemore. Charan Waghmare was subsequently expelled from BJP for contesting the election as an independent candidate.[5]
ControversyEdit
Waghmare was chairman of the works committee of Bhandara Zilla Parishad (BZP) between June–July 2010 to January 2013. As chairman, he was entitled to reimbursement of rent for the period of his chairmanship. According to a news story in Nagpur Today, Waghmare showed that he was a tenant in his wife's house and claimed rent of Rs. 4500 per month from the BZP. A rent agreement was drawn between the chief officer of the BZP and Waghmare's wife Vijayshree Waghmare for the purpose. Waghmare was paid a total of Rs. 1,40,000.[6]
On September 28, 2019, Charan Waghmare was arrested by Tumsar police for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman police official. The alleged incident happened on September 16, 2018.[7]
