Bharatpedia:Trimester Oriticle Writing Edit-a-thon 2024

Trimester Oriticle Writing Edi-a-thon is an international oriticle (original article) writing online marathon, to be organized at Bharatpedia annually in a trimester (three consecutive months) of March, April and May to document different topics, including but not limited to art and culture, economics, politics, science and technology, of different regions of Bharat (India) and its neighborhood nations (including both terrestrial neighbors as well as maritime neighbors). This project is also extended to photography campaign Bharat Loves Photographs (BLP) as well, which is going to be organized on the Bharatmedia, to document pictures of the same topics mentioned above.

The basic aim of the competition is to collect articles on the free encyclopedia Bharatpedia.

The articles provided must match the theme, which means that most users will be able to find several pertaining subjects close to the themes of that area. You are free to choose an article from a topic of your own provided it is in relation to the main theme. It also brings forth diverse knowledge for user consumption.

Any aspects based on Bharat (India) and its neighborhood nations (including both terrestrial neighbors as well as maritime neighbors)

Please remember that India shares her maritime borders with 7 nations on adjacent and opposite coasts — Pakistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, and Bangladesh, and her land borders with 6 nations – Pakistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

Rules and guidelinesEdit

Please read the following rules and guidelines properly before submitting your articles:

  1. The article should be original and not copied from other places, including but not limited to Wikipedia, Vikaspedia, Indpaedia, Banglapedia, etc. Plagiarism is strictly depreciated in this event. Here, originality doesn't mean original research with no reliable, published sources, directly related to the topic of the article and directly supporting the material(s) being presented.
  2. The article should be newly created during the event and not expanded from an already existing article.
  3. If the article gets drafted, then it should be improved to get into the mainspace before the end of the event.
  4. The new article should have a minimum length of 3000 bytes and/or 300 words.
  5. The article should not be a poorly machine translated in case if it is translated from another language.
  6. The article should be created between 1 March and 31 May.
  7. The article should be within the given themes. (Articles will be accepted if it either belongs to India or any of its neighborhood countries or both.)
  8. The article must not be Orphan. (It should be linked to atleast another article.)
  9. There should be no copyright violations and notability issues and the article should have proper references (as well as citations) as per Bharatpedia policies.
  10. Each article will carry 5 points each.
  11. Each article will have atleast three independent sources/references/citations.
  12. A participant should submit atleast 5 articles. Else, all his/her contributions (in case, the number of articles is less than 5) will be nullified.
  13. Participants should have their own registered user accounts in Bharatpedia. (Please note that registration is totally free of cost.)
  14. Any new person who registered even after the March 1 are allowed to join the contest but they should submit their articles before the deadline.
  15. Stay cool and relaxed! The language of the article(s) is not required to be in Queen's English. Whatever written should be understandable, simple and grammatically correct.
  16. In case if two participants get the same number of points, then the quality of the articles the two persons have submitted will be reviewed once again, to decide the ultimate winner.
