Splitting is the process of moving part of a Bharatpedia article into a new, separate article, because the original article has grown too long, or because one of its sections covers a subject that is notable in its own right.
How to split[edit source]
- Discuss the proposal on the article's talk page first, and mark the section with {{splitsection}} if needed.
- Create the new article with the moved content, rewritten to stand on its own, with its own introduction and sources.
- Leave a short summary of the moved material in the original article, with a link to the new article.
- Mention the source article in the edit summary of the new article, so the contribution history is respected.
