This page of the Manual of Style covers embedded lists: lists that appear inside an article as part of its content.

  • Use an embedded list when a set of items is easier to read as a list than as prose, and each item is short.
  • Prefer prose when the items need explanation or discussion.
  • Every list should have a clear lead-in that says what the list contains and what criteria were used to select the entries.
  • List entries should be supported by the article's sources, and entries that are articles in their own right should be linked.
  • Do not use embedded lists to gather trivia; see Bharatpedia:Handling trivia.
