Ashley Radjarame (born 1999) is a French fashion model of Tamil Indian heritage.
Early life[edit]
Radjarame was born in the Parisian suburb of Rueil-Malmaison to Tamil parents who were originally from Puducherry.[3] Her maternal grandfather served in the French military, allowing her family to inherit French citizenship and eventually immigrate to France.[4]
She experienced harassment from her peers in her youth for her ethnicity and body.[4] She has a younger sister.[5]
Career[edit]
She was discovered by casting director Mollie Dendle while working as an intern in London.[3] Her first ever modelling job was a Prada resort campaign, and she debuted as an exclusive in their S/S 2020 fashion show in 2019.[6][7][8] Upon her debut, Vogue chose her as one of the "Top 15 models" of the spring 2020 season.[9] She walked for Louis Vuitton's show that season, which took place at the Louvre.[6] She has also walked the runway for Stella McCartney, Lanvin, Jacquemus, Acne Studios, and is ranked as one of the "Top 50" models in the industry by models.com.[10]
Radjarame has been on the cover of Vogue India and Vogue Ukraine.[3]
Personal life[edit]
Radjarame visits India annually to see her extended family and engage in Indian culture. On her bicultural heritage, she considers herself "Indian before being French".[6]
