Vazhiye (original Malayalam title: വഴിയെ, transl. The Trail) is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language independent found footage horror thriller mystery film written and directed by Nirmal Baby Varghese after Thariode.[1][2][3] This movie is an experimental movie made in found footage style and it is the first found footage movie in Malayalam.[1][4][5] Produced by Baby Chaithanya under the banner of Casablanca Film Factory.[6][7][8][9] The film marked the debut of Hollywood music director Evan Evans in Indian cinema.[2][10][11][12]

Premise

The film narrates the story of two Youtube vloggers decide to make a documentary film about a mystery land, where they confront perilous, nightmarish situations.[2][13]

Production

Development

On 4 March 2019, The New Indian Express had reported that Currently, Nirmal is working on his next project titled Vazhiye, a found-footage horror film.[15] Nirmal announced Vazhiye on his facebook on August 31, 2020.[3][5][12][16][17][18] The film is produced by Baby Chaithanya under the banner of Casablanca Film Factory in association with Vivid Frames.[19][20] American composer Evan Evans was signed as the composer.[2][10][21][17]

Filming

Principal photography began on 28 September 2020 with a customary pooja function held at Chittarikkal, Kasaragod.[22][23][24][25] Other primary filming locations were in Badoor, Pulingome, Cherupuzha, Kanamvayal and in Kasaragod-Karnataka border.[26][27][28][29][30][31] Shooting was wrapped on 20 October 2020 at Konnakkad.[32][33][34][35][36]

Soundtrack

The original background score and theme music is composed by American film score composer Evan Evans.[2][10][13]
