The {{Help me}} template is used by editors who would like help with something on Bharatpedia. It is placed on a talk page, usually the editor's own user talk page, and it notifies helpers that a question is waiting for an answer.

Usage

Place the template on your user talk page and write your question with it:

{{Help me}}

You can also give your question as a parameter, and it will be shown under the message box:

{{Help me|How do I add a reference to an article?}}

While you wait, you can also ask at the Help desk or the Teahouse, or look through the help pages and the FAQ.

This template is only for talk pages. On any other kind of page it shows a "wrong place" warning instead, asking for the template to be moved to a talk page.

Parameters

1 or helptext
Your question. It is displayed below the message box after "Your question:".
clear
Set to yes to stop the page being added to the help category automatically.
category
Replaces the default category with a different one.
demospace
Used in documentation and demonstrations to force either the talk page version or the other pages version of the box. Ordinary users do not need it.

Categorisation

  • On talk pages, the page is added to Category:Bharatpedians looking for help, which helpers watch.
  • On other pages, the page is added to the "Bharatpedians with misplaced help messages" category instead.
  • Both are suppressed with clear=yes, or replaced by the category given in the category parameter.

When help has been given

Once a helper has answered, the request should be closed so that the editor is not left waiting in the category. Helpers can replace the template with {{Help me-helped}}, or nullify it using {{Tlp}} or {{Tnull}}.
